Removal of Char

The Graco Invisipac’s patented melter and distribution system virtually eliminates char formation by design.

The Process

#1

Autofeed

Using an ultrasonic level sensor, the system is constantly monitoring the adhesive level in it’s melter. When the sensor sees the level drop below it’s acceptable range, the autofeed system will trigger and adhesive pellets will ride a stream of compressed air back to the melter.

#2

Melter

The beauty of the melter is in it’s simplicity. No longer does adhesive need to be added into a large tank, to be combined with hot adhesive and sit for an indefinite time until it is needed. The honeycomb melter is designed to have a large surface area in order to melt adhesive as fast as it’s only as its needed. With gravities assistance, by the time the adhesive reaches the bottom of the melter, it is at temperature and ready to be distributed. At any given time, there may only be a half liter of molten adhesive in your Invisipac, but you are ready to apply 25 to 50 lbs per hour, depending on model. With the first in, first out design, there is no chance for oxygen to enter the equation, and by limiting this and the time the adhesive is at temp before being applied, you can eliminate char.

#3

Hose

The Invisipac Hose is designed with an extra layer of insulation sandwiched between the heating elements. This insulation serves to eliminate overheated “hot spots” by allowing the heat to be spread out more productively on the actual heating side, as well as the where the temperature is being monitored from, resulting in a uniform, stable heated hose, devoid of char.

#4

FILTERS

The Invisipac has 4 system filters to prevent debris from causing char build up within the system. There is a serviceable large mesh filter which is dubbed the “rock catcher” to remove large debris before it would enter the pump. There is a serviceable fine mesh manifold filter that catches any fine particles (i.e. paper dust) before they leave the pump manifold and enter the hose. There is a serviceable applicator filter to further catch anything that would have made it through, and then the adhesive is filtered one final time in the module before exiting the nozzle to the substrate. These 4 filters serve to further safeguard your system from char formed by foreign debris.

#5

APPLICATOR

The Invisipac’s Applicator is directionally drilled to create adhesive flow paths without dead spots competing applicators have from through drilling, eliminating places for adhesive to sit and develop char.

If you are looking for hot melt adhesive savings, the Graco Invisipac is the most innovative technology in the marketplace at this time.

The Minnesota company has put extreme effort in finding a need in the manufacturing environment and filling that need with a robust hot melt adhdesive solution.

While talk is good, action is better. Complete Adhesive Systems would like to come to your facility to do a baseline test, to show you your current adhesive per box usage, and give you an idea of how much adhesive savings we could provide on application.

In addition, labor savings on maintenance and start-up time, and parts savings from the durability of the equipment, the savings add up quickly.

Clients of ours have seen overall savings

of 50% or greater.
